Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy, and expensive and you probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. Submitted by Unhappy owner - 3/17/2017

My husband and I bought our dishwasher Nov.. 2015 and had it installed Spring 2016. It worked great until this week March 2017. The water runs in but it does not wash the dishes. The water just sits in it and nothing else. The sprayers does spin during washing. I am not happy with this product. It should not break don't this soon. It still like new. I am very disappointed in Whirlpool and do not recommend this product.

Nope. Hunk of junk.

Submitted by Jann - 2/13/2017

Had problems from day one. The smell at the beginning was so terrible it stunk up the whole house for weeks and there was small rust spots in stainless steel inside under the door. After repair guy came it worked well for about a year or so until the control handle broke and now lifts up every time you open it just as another reviewer described. Now after about 2 years the thing barely cleans the dishes anymore. It's like it doesn't rinse the soap properly and there's often a film and I'm going through rinse aid like crazy. I don't understand why things are built to throw away nowadays. Honestly if I got five years out of it fine but two years is ridiculous.

Piece of JUNK

Submitted by Axleman - 2/6/2017

I purchased this about 6 months ago. Very disappointed, I'm not a complainer just telling you the way it is, I had a GE disherwasher for 12 years with a family of 7 had no problems till the motor finally died. Then i bought this whirlpool sales guy recommend this, boy what a mistake. It takes 3 hours to run through normal cycle. dishes are never dried. I email and talked to customer service and told me that the way its designed. water pump keeps jamming up lucky I'm a diy or this thing would cost a fortune in repairs. Saving my money up so I can junk this and buy another GE dishwasher.

first dishwasher we bought!

Submitted by david - 2/1/2017

when it worked it was great but just a year after installing and it stopped draining the water. it did sit in storage for about year and half before installing while i was recinstructing the house before i installed it. SO far have changed the drain hose, and drain pump and still will not drain no i'm changing the control board to see what happens. After this experience i don't know if i'll go back to whirlpool if this control board doesn't work. I'll probably buy another brand

Handle / Control Panel broke after a year of use

Submitted by Gregg - 12/26/2016

We bought our dishwasher about 2 years ago and it worked really well until about 6-8 months ago. It actually still works but every time you pull it open the control panel pops out of the slots it is connected in. After further inspection I found that the plastic brackets that connect the control panel / handle to the door had broken. Very poor design to have the latch and handle as part of the control panel especially with a latch that is designed to be pulled to release. Now I have to have the entire control panel replaced. We spent a lot of money on this dishwasher and expected it to last.

Poor Build quality

Submitted by Very Disappointed Buyer - 11/26/2016

Owned less than 2 years and the dishwasher has stopped spraying water (bad pump?). Also, after about 9-10 months, the "stainless steel" finish showed signs of pitting/rusting, forcing us into an every-other-day cleaning maintenance regimen with specialty products. It did run quiet while it was still working.

Failed Repeatedly

Submitted by castlerobber - 11/5/2016

I bought this dishwasher (in black) in April 2014. In the first two years I owned it, the control panel and the motor each had to be replaced twice under warranty. The motor failed again in October 2016, out of warranty. It would have cost more to fix than to replace, so it's been replaced. I wasn't all that thrilled with this dishwasher when it worked. It was quiet, and it did get the dishes reasonably clean. But most of the slots in the silverware basket were too small for my silverware, and there wasn't adequate space for spatulas, turners, ice-cream scoops, etc. Loading the top rack was awkward--cups and bowls didn't quite fit either on or between the prongs. My previous Whirlpool Gold dishwasher lasted 12 years, making me even more disappointed in the poor quality of the WDF750SAY.

Not what I expected

Submitted by Bob the Jumper - 7/2/2016

I've owed Whirlpool appliances since 1983 and have been so happy with them all - until we replaced our dishwasher with a very expensive Gold Series. It is quiet, that's for sure. It is "high end" with many features, but sadly the adjustable dish racks have cheap clips that began falling off the top rack before the dishwasher was three months old. How did we notice this? They fell off and melted to the heating element. Definitly a pain to find the right clips since they melted and were in the bottom of the dishwasher for probably several washes before they melted and burned. Three on the top and one on the bottom. As for the drying feature, it worked great for the first month, now whilst still not yet six months old, our dishes are still dripping wet after the drying cycle. I'd say if you want to replace your dishwasher, go for a Samsung or LG. At least it won't cost so much. This DW was almost $700.00.

Does not drain well

Submitted by LynnKK - 4/28/2016

Purchased this dishwasher in July of 2015. Wanted one with a stainless interior and quieter than my last whirlpool. Cleans dishes well and is very quiet, but this is the 2nd time period that it does not drain completely. I have had a myriad of Whirlpool dishwashers over the years. Some I have had for 10+ years and they ALWAYS drained. This one, not so much and it is a pain to drag the guy out to fix it. There is a flaw in the way it is installed and that little check valve should be in an easier place to clean.

Submitted by Housewife on Strike - 12/1/2015

Had this washer for about 6 months and still love it. It is sleek looking, quiet, and has loads of room. Love the adjustable rack. Gets dishes really clean no matter how crazy I fill it. Only downside is it doesn't always get cups on top rack completely dry, unless you tilt them just right BUT not a big deal at all. More my doing I'm sure. As long as it keeps them spot free.

does not clean dishes

Submitted by brina - 11/23/2015

I have never written a review before but I felt compelled because of how disappointed we are with this product.  In August 2014 we purchased this dishwasher.  I asked my husband to buy the extended warranty but he didn't . It worked well for almost a year. We had no complaints compare to the Maytag we had before. Just days after the warranty expired I noticed it wasn't washing / drying! Thought I might be loading it poorly , but soon realized it wasn't working properly. I had a maintenance guy come to check it out and he noticed it was taking over 2 hours to wash. He was not able to help and recommend calling the Whirlpool. I ended up calling Whirlpool for help but by the time I called it was a month passes the warranty. They offered to pay for half the parts and I would have to pay to take care of the labor and half the parts, but only if I used one of the recommended technicians.  I have had a technicians come out a couple times and look at the dishwasher and is still not working properly. After the 2nd time a technicians came out, they ended up replacing the entire control board, and sensor. Its still not working properly. It takes over 3 hours to wash and the dishes are still not clean or dry. I'm very unhappy with this product! I did my research before buying this and it had such great reviews I thought it would be fine. I should have paid more attention to the bad reviews. I would not recommend Whirlpool to anybody.

Extremely quiet

Submitted by Angbo - 11/8/2015

We have had this dishwasher for almost 2 years and really like it. The best thing about the machine is it is incredibly quiet. You really hardly know it's running. The performance has been great. The only detail I wish I could change is it doesn't seem to be possible to turn off the drying cycle if you prefer to just let everything air dry to save on electricity.

Leaking from door 14 months after purchase

Submitted by Galaxyblue - 10/17/2015

I usually buy Bosch but this time money was tight and I thought I would try Whirlpool. It is quiet enough. Cycle as long as a Bosch's, but how disappointing when water started pouring out of the left front corner of the the door. After Googling it, I found that it is quite common. Whirlpool said they would cover parts and service as a courtesy because it was 2 months out of warranty, but still. I will be without the use of my dishwasher for over 2 weeks if it can be fixed the day of my appointment.

Not what we expected

Submitted by Rog - 10/12/2015

We were expecting a high quality dishwasher but overall it was less than ok. Cleaning below average and drying is horrible. We got a technician to take a look at it last week and for cleaning part he gave us an advice how to keep cleaning the 2 water jet because they get dirt in between openings. But as for drying the only way to get dry dishes is to keep putting them without water rinsing for 6 weeks in order for dishwasher to eventually dry dishes completely. Somehow it doesn't make sense. As for cleaning cycles it takes between 1:30 minutes up to 5 hrs depends on cycle chosen. Wouldn't recommend this product.

Rating after 14 months of ownership: POOR

Submitted by Matt - 10/7/2015

When I first got this machine it looked great, worked well, very quiet. I have had the service man out twice under the 1 year warranty and now that I'm 2 months of our warranty its not working again. My mom's whirlpool is 10 years old and still works, never been serviced. This one is a joke. I ran the diagnostic cycle and got a code which does not correspond to my problem at all. I checked the parts exactly as prescribed without finding the cause of the issue. Naturally Whirlpool will not assist at this point so I'm looking for a new dishwasher...guess which brand it won't be.

Poorly designed

Submitted by becket - 8/5/2015

The dishwasher began leaking shortly after the 1 year warranty expired. But we didn't discover the leak until the heating element failed 24 months after purchase. The leak is due to a faulty seal that should cost only 30 cents for the part but Whirlpool has designed it so that the entire pump will have to be replaced. The pump repair alone will cost over $200 to fix.

Great Dishwasher

Submitted by James W. - 6/16/2015

We've had this dishwasher for 6 months, and are very pleased. For the first time in my life, I don't have to pre-rinse dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. The exception is heavily goop-soiled silverware doesn't always get spotless (think: knife coated with peanut butter), and the upper rack water pipe blocks bowls from getting clean when lined up in the back (poor design). It's SUPER quiet as well, we can watch a movie in our open floor plan house with the dishwasher running and can't hear it at all.

Submitted by Jon - 5/19/2015

When I moved late last year I left my older dishwasher at the old address and shopped around for a new one. I did my due diligence, or so I had thought, and decided on the Whirlpool model for what looked to be better build quality and reduced noise levels. BIG, BIG mistake... I should have focused on cleaning power, to which this model performs extremely poorly. Dishes must be rinsed very thoroughly in order for the machine to be effective, and after all my tweaks in settings, adding rinse aids, glasses are left with a cloudy finish/residue after time. Don't waste your hard earned money on this product!

Submitted by Justin11 - 5/6/2015

It has been about 5 months since we've been using this dishwasher and it has been performing well. We started with a more-expensive Samsung that just didn't work. We replaced it with this one and haven't looked back. I'm not sure if it is the way we use the machine but we have found it necessary to put 2 dishwasher tabs in there instead of 1. The handle seems like it is going to be pulled off; ie, it is not sturdy and moves when you pull it. Still, there is the occasional item that didn't come complete clean but that was sometimes because of the way we put it in there. In the end, this was an affordable option that actually does a good job of washing dishes.

We are so happy with our new Whirlpool dishwasher! It's so quiet. Stainless steel inside means no hard water stains. Can fit more dishes than our last dishwasher because of spacious design. Looking forward to many years with this appliance!
