Must replace useless "safety" coil burners
JL1965
11/12/2019
Before purchasing Whirlpool oven Model # WFC310S0ES, I read all of the reviews on this factory website. There are at least 60 reviews complaining that the top coil burners won't even boil a pan of water after 30 minutes, which is beyond ridiculous! This must be some sort of "safety feature" as any oven that takes 30 minutes to do what was previously accomplished in 5 minutes surely isn't saving any energy. Feel free to read them for yourself.
Well, I had already purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator in stainless finish to update my kitchen, so I wanted a matching oven and the Model # WFC310S0ES is the only available option that uses traditional electric coil burners. All other models have the smooth, ceramic glass cooktop, which by the way scratches easily and has its own unique design flaws.
So I visited my local appliance parts store, and showed them the coils on the new stove. These coils have a weird little box attached on the underside, which apparently is the "safety feature" mechanism. I replaced all (4) "safety" coils with standard coils, which cost around $100. Mind you, this is another hundred dollars in parts for what is supposed to be a brand new stove. Again, completely ridiculous "improvement" by the manufacturer!
Other reviews point out that the coils do not sit level unless a heavy pan is on them, and that they are not secured to the cooktop. Well, I resolved this issue as well. On my old stove (and every stove I have ever seen frankly) there is one little upward facing clip (per coil burner) where the coil snaps securely onto the cooktop surface. These clips were fastened onto my old stove's cooktop surface with a small rivet, but they were easily removed with a sharp chisel and hammer. I then reused them on my new stove, because it does not include these clips for some unknown reason. Logic would tell you that the coil burners will never be adequately secured without these little clips. Again, completely ridiculous design flaw/lack of attention to detail by the manufacturer!
Another cheap-approach design flaw mentioned in several reviews is that there is no handle on the bottom storage drawer, and the sliding mechanisms are flimsy and weak whenever you try to open the drawer.

Worst Stove Top I have Ever Had

I bought this electric range 5 years ago. I also purchased an extended warranty through Lowes on this model. Not only does it have a mind of it's own it's a fire hazard! It either takes forever to heat up or it goes straight to RED. To make matters worse we can NEVER find the right size drip pans. We cannot afford to purchase another stove and we are at are wits end!

Do not care for glasstop electric ranges as spills end up getting caked onto stove top, no matter how quickly you clean up. Have only had this range a short while, but so far so good. The only complaint might be the drawer at the bottom. I wish it was made of a thicker material. Seems a bit thin and cheap to me.

I bought this over a month ago and had to wait for the first one came in damaged. should have cancelled the order then. Received the second one an it took over 20 minutes to boil water. Had to put a cover on pan to get it to boil, put pasta in and had to cover again to get it to boil. Returned stove and put my old GE back into service.

Won't Boil Water
Aunt PittyPat
9/5/2019
I was so excited when I got all new Whirlpool appliances in my kitchen. I love the refrigerator, love the dishwasher, and even the microwave, but the electric range - not so much. Trying to boil water for pasta or boiling potatoes is just downright impossible. And if you do get the water to eventually boil, it soon stops boiling because the burner shuts down, even though it's still on high. I timed my last pot of water for pasta and it took 33 min to get the first boil and after I put the pasta in the pot, the water never returned to a boil. I don't know what engineer thought up the burner that is on then off then on then off, but he should have to cook dinner every night for a family of 5 and sit and wait and wait and wait. I want my old GE back so I can boil water again!

I am enjoying my new stove. Just two things. When the requested bake temperature is reached, wish the screen would switch back to clock mode so I could time my baking from the screen. Also, wish the dials had perhaps a red mark instead of black. When I'm moving the dial to the appropriate cooking level for the coils, the black mark is hard to see.

Bought this last October. We were in a hurry and didn't research enough. Burners are slow slow slow. Nothing to indicate a simmer or higher BTU burner. Clock doesn't show time if oven is on. Black top almost impossible to keep looking nice and free of smears and smudges. This stove will be gone as soon as we can have gas installed. Very disappointed.

22 minutes to boil water
D witherd
4/6/2019
This range was bought by me for my mother. After a lot of research I settled on this range because of the " High Speed" burners and the AccuBake system. The stove burners were listed as two 2500W 8" and two 1500W 6" burners. After a few weeks of use my mother said that it wouldn't hardly boil water. Upon checking this out, I put 1 Qt of water in a 4,5 qt copper bottomed Revereware pan on one of the 8 in burners which was set on "high". I then timed how long it took to bring the tap water to boil. It took 22 minutes to bring the water to a rolling boil. She still had her old stove in the garage. I wired that old stove up and did the same test above on the old stove. It took 4.5 - 5 minutes to bring the same amount of water in the same pan to a rolling boil. I then started to wonder why, upon looking at the burners, they are not the wattage as specified; 8" burners were 2140W and the 6" burners were 1300W. I then called Whirlpool they said this was normal, I told them that it shouldn't take 22 minutes to boil 1 qt of water. I wanted a tech to come out an look at the stove. He found one burner control bad, which I already knew about, but couldn't explain why it took so long to boil water on the other 8" normally operating burner.Whirlpool will not exchange or refund me for this piece of junk. The only thing that works correctly is the oven. If there was a rating of less than one star, that's what this stove should be rated at. I have also contacted Consumer Reports about this stove.

I still hate this range after two months and paying $684.00. It won't boil water, coils cook unevenly hot to the inside then hot to the outside of the coil. Just nuts!!!! Oven is ok, I just need to cook at a higher heat then my last oven. I have now stopped using the stove top and I'm using cast iron single burners (that I plug in and place on my counters) that boil water quickly. I am angry at this design and law! I don't need safety I just need basic fire to cook my food.

Replace the coils
Mommarice
3/4/2019
I had problems boiling water. It took over 30 minutes to even start boiling not even a rolling boil. My old Frigidaire stove took about 5 minutes.
I contacted customer support and they were useless and didn't seem to care that I had just spent a LOT of money on a kitchen full of their brand and was not happy.
When you first turn it on, the whole burner is red and heated up, then after 5 minutes, the inner ring goes offf and only the outer one is still hot. I thought I had gotten a faulty stove.
So I was looking at the coils and noticed a little metal box on each one that I have never seen on stove coils before. So I took one of the old coils off my old stove and put it in place of one of the brand new coils and guess what??? Water boiled in 5 minutes again! SO I have a brand new stove that I have to buy brand new coils for because the ones it comes with are garbage. Why do these appliance companies have to mess with something that has worked for decades? First our washing machines, now stoves, what next???? I am in my 30's and I prefer things that work!!!! Stop messing with stuff!!!ui

Coil sucks, such a bad design. Middle part of coil heats high but edges don't.
Even their supports sucks, they don't even know if old style coil will work on it or not.

Uneven heat limiting coils are a serious issue
markster3000
2/5/2019
I have been using this stove for several months, and have constantly had issues with stovetop cooking. The heat-limiting coils are simply unable to apply sufficient heat. The coils are not fully flat, and do not make constant contact across the base of my pots, which is causing premature triggering of the heat-limiting function. I find I have to constantly move my pot around the burner to get it to contact other parts of the coil. With a pot full of water, this is not the safest procedure.
Ultimately, I have taken to boiling water in a kettle separately from the stove. Even then, when boiling frozen dumplings, the water never returns to a boil.
It wasn't until I replaced one of the coils with an older style that I have been able to cook reliably again.
The rest of the oven is fine, but the stovetop is 90% of my use, and the heat-limiting coils just make it an incredibly frustrating experience.

Terrible Oven, Terrible Service

I bought this oven in August and it was installed at the end of September. It does not bake properly. Had the service team out twice - first time there was a faulty sensor and the second time, the door was not looked at. I cannot believe Whirlpool would allow this poor quality to represent their products. I will not recommend this product and I will not have it in any of my rental properties.

Water won't boil
rhonda53oz
12/11/2018
Purchased this stove on Oct. 29. After about 30 minutes, water still hasn't come to a boil and I have it on high. No matter how much water or what kind of cookware using. I read in the user instruction booklet that there are now new temperature-limiting coils and have slightly longer time, e.g., for large pot of water to boil but, still think that after 30 min it should be a rolling boil. Some things needs the water be a rolling boil, like pasta, before adding to the water.

Unit delivered a month ago on Sept 5th 2018 during the chaos of floor tile removal/replacement so we didn't get to use it very much at first. So far this Range has proved to be well worth the money, for example the oven bakes well and the stove top burners are very controllable unlike previous stoves where they stayed hot
even when turned to warm (very important to anybody cooking). I would prefer to cook with gas however this is very close to gas performance therefore we're very happy with our purchase. This range replaces a glass top slide in range from a different company.

We replaced are Whirlpool range from 1989 with this 2018 Whirlpool range.
I could have fixed the 1989 range (heating element) but we wanted to up date to the 21st Century. We like the window in the oven door...with old range we had to open the oven door to see what was what...losing heat in which would cause a change in the oven temperature, causing the oven to kick into the pre-heat function.

I would like the bottom drawer below the oven to have a handle. It is not easy to get open and then the area tends to get dirty looking from the finger/hand prints that are made when it is opened. the top has a tinny sound when you work with pots on the elements. need some type of insulation or the like. My daughter got one in white and it is different!! Maybe it is just the color's style.
Looks apparently isn't everything!
